￥One of the most common pitfalls for most orchestral libraries is the ability to write fast legato and fluent ostinato. The reality is that fast legato requires a completely unique string technique and the only way to truly do it – is to record it with specific techniques designed to capture the fast movement of strings. Agitato Legato Arpeggio is designed for very fast string passages, including arpeggios, ostinato figures and hyper fast legato melodies.

 

Performed with a vibrant energy and bounce, Agitato Legato Arpeggio fills an important gap in our string repertoire. By design, the transitions have chaos and imperfection, capturing the natural glissing and complex overtones that occur when a string section plays rapidly

 

Agitato Legato Arpeggio is based on brand new sample content. We recorded 5 new types of Hyper-Fast Legato for Violins (2), Violas (1) and Cellos (2).

 

In addition to our Legato Arpeggio we also included our Ostinato Builder for Violins to this library, which is a collection of over 5,500 Ostinato Samples – intelligently designed for completely realistic Ostinatos. The Ostinato patterns are themed into 10 main categories and all tempo-synced to your DAW. The end-result is an incredibly deep selection of Ostinatos that sparkles with energy and natural flow.

 

Agitato Legato Arpeggio Strings are produced by Academy Award, TEC and G.A.N.G Award Winning Composer, Troels Folmann and Emmy Nominated composer, Colin O’Malley. The 8Dio Agitato Expansion series is the third branch to our existing Adagietto and Adagio String Collections. The Agitato Expansion series addresses the most sought-after string articulations, including Grandioso Soaring Legato, Hyper-Fast Legato, True Ostinato and Soaring Sordino. Agitato was recorded in the same large and lush church as our Adagio & Adagietto series and is the logical extension to these libraries.

 

Ostinato Builder

 

The Ostinato Builder for violins contains nearly 5,500 Ostinato Samples – all delicately synced to your DAW tempo. The idea concept is to offer useful pre-recorded phrases and ostinato fragments. Used in conjunction with the playable legato patches, they add a final dash of realism and life to acrobatic orchestrations. The phrases are named with their recorded BPM, but also sync to your DAW tempo using Kontakt Time Machine. Time Machine 2 and Time Machine Pro version are included. Time Machine Pro causes issues on some DAWs, but allows for greater deviation from the recorded tempo with less artifacts.

 

Arpeggio Legato

 

The Arpeggio Legatos are of the library. They are available for Violin, Viola and Cello ensembles. Each instrument section has two instrument types. “Feather Atk” features a rounder and smoother legato performance, while the “Pointed Atk” versions feature a more pronounced and slightly percussive legato performance. Violins and Cellos have 2 dynamics of legato intervals in each patch. Playing above velocity 80 will trigger a louder, more aggressive legato performance. Violas have a single dynamic legato performance. We also designed the legato system, so you can alternate between different legato types in real-time using keyswitches.

 

Microphone and Room

 

Agitato Legato Arpeggio contains 3 microphone positions (Close, Far & Mixed). Everything was recorded with the best Neumann through custom pre-amps in a live church environment (the same we used for Adagio and Adagietto). The close microphone position gives you a near definition with grit and personality. The far microphone gives you the full bloom of the beautiful room and the mixed microphone position is a blend of all the microphones used in the project. In addition we also offer output routing pr. microphone, so you can assign each mic to individual outputs for more heavy mixing.

 

Control Arpeggio and Ostinato

 

Agitato Legato Arpeggio & Ostinato is all about fast and fluent string writing. The Legato Arpeggio for Violins, Violas and Cellos allows you to create completely realistic, fast legato based arpeggiations. We had to design new sample and recording techniques from scratch to make this possible. The end-result is an incredibly flexible and acrobatic set of legato strings. The Ostinato Builder for violins builds upon the same concept – giving you thousands of options in terms of creating completely realistic Ostinatos that can seamlessly be blended with our multi-samples.
