￥Monolith is a set of 80 unique arp synth presets for Ableton Live, with a focus on inspiring, creative sequences and analog sounds. The Monolith presets use oscillator samples of the Korg MonoPoly in combination with Ableton’s MIDI devices for great sounding patches with maximum flexibility.

 

The Monolith presets use samples of the Korg MonoPoly’s raw oscillator waveforms, which are some of the best analog oscillator sounds I’ve come across. Additionally, many of the patches were directly inspired by the MonoPoly’s latching arpeggiator, which lets you cycle through the four individual oscillators on each arp step, allowing for natural experimentation and a sense of unpredictability.

 

The Monolith patches were made as an exploration of Ableton’s Arpeggiator MIDI device, as well as combining it with Ableton’s Random, Chord and Rack devices. I used the devices in various routings to produce unique patches that break out of the typical up/down patterns. Some of the patches involve a degree of randomness, always generating new variations, with Macro control over the amount of randomness to introduce. Other patches are layered, with several mini arpeggiator parts creating a bigger, complex pattern. Of course, there’s also plenty of those classic simple arp patterns too.
