UNDER THE HOOD<\/strong>
Many compressors will offer a wet\/dry knob. But for a true parallel compression sound, the dry signal should remain unaffected as you add a \u2018crushed\u2019 duplicate for extra weight. But in short it\u2019s a mix of punchy high-ratio compression with a transient-friendly envelope \u2013 and a bit of EQ \u2013 combined with a low-end preservation filter applied to the internal detection signal for a fuller sound. TWO-TRICK PONY<\/strong>
While parallel compression is its primary strength, I Heart NY can be more than a one-trick pony. Engaging \u2018SOLO\u2019 mode makes the plugin operate as a normal insert compressor (by muting the dry audio signal). This opens up a whole new set of possibilities for using the SPANK algorithm on your material.<\/p>\n
